After much deliberation and consultation with wiser heads than mine the decision has been reached to have a separate page for break vans, so here is is. First up is No 401. My freelance break van which features 8 shoe clasp breaks operated by remote control.
This is the Festinog Railway’s Quarrymen’s coach converted to a break van. Known originally as No5 prior to preservation but now running as Number 2. I need to find out what sort of lettering was applied, apply it and sort out the weathering.
Next is the Festiniog railway’s large bogie breaks; Van4. Construction is card and shellac with scratch built bogies. The only brought in components are the door furniture, coupling hooks and chain, wheels and bearings
Van 10, officaly this is Van 2 but I have built it as running in May 1955 when it was one of the first vehicles to run in preservation. No10 is one of the oldest, and only wooden underframed bogie carrages running today. Rebuilt in it's current form with two pansenger compartments in 1920/1 Van 10 contiues to give excelent serivce and provides a link to the pre presevation era. Construction is card and shellac with scratch built, CNC cut, bogies. The only brought in components are the door furniture, coupling hooks and chain, wheels and bearings.
